L/O: to research genre codes & conventions

Wednesday 15th May 2024
do now:
Explain what you understand representation to mean in terms of media
Representation is how media texts deal with and present gender, age, ethnicity, national and regional identity, social issues and events to an audience
This done through shot type or angle, mise-en-scene or editing
Friday 17th May 2024
do now:
the differences between primary and secondary research is  primary is interviews, surveys  where as secondary is existing data.
primary- asking people to get data
secondary- is second hand data getting from someone else

Imagery: the genre conventions  of the film gives of paranormal/ haunted house

Colour palette: the genre conventions i would expect to see in the colour palette is red, black, white and possibly grey

Typography: the main font that is being used sometimes are serif for example The conjuring

characters - typical character types and style: the villain / killer, victims. the victims where 50s- 80s clothing

narratives- typical sort of storylines:
Further research reveals that the house once belonged to an accused witch named Bathsheba Sherman (a relative of Mary Towne Eastey), who sacrificed her week-old baby to the devil and killed herself in 1863 at 3:07 in the morning after proclaiming her love of Satan and cursing all who take her land. There are reports of numerous murders and suicides through the years in the houses that were built on the property.

Representations of people- describe how they are shown stereotypically
the woman is the scared, whereas the man is shown as strong and heroic

Wednesday 22nd May 2024
do now:
  • what would u find in a horror movie? (linking to Propp theory)
  • whats your favourite horror movie?
  • whats a good colour scheme in a horror movie?
  • what do u think about horror movies?

REPRESENTATION RESEARCH

1. unexplainable, spine- chilling, horror
2.the woman is the scared, whereas the man is shown as strong and heroic
3.middle aged adults
4.American
5.Horror films are centered around the dark side of life, the forbidden and strange, unexplainable events.
6. the scared woman.

1. My chosen genre is Horror, it would appeal to 16-24 year olds because most young adults enjoy thrills, These thrills are more likely to excite a younger audience rather than an older one.
2.I think target audience would include both male and female audience, and people who enjoy thriller, blood and gore
3. the night of the fire , how she died, the night she died
4.
5. All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream.
6. a classic haunted house that has so much history
7.red, black, grey
8.i would have a close up
9. the information i would add would be a short extract on the back to explain a dark blurb but not telling everything
10. haunted house (lanhydrock house)
11.different haunted objects in the house

12. history on the house and what the horror movie is about

13.i will put the age rating on the side and also have a old stone wall on it

14. using different pictures of the same house

15.  What sort of typography will you have throughout your products? (Use images to support)

16. What sort of representations will you have throughout your products? What stereotypes will you support or challenge (Use images to support)

In a lot of movies i see a killer and innocent people running and trying to get rid of it, so what i want to do it create a paranormal, haunted house theme and based in the UK and not America

Comments

  1. RESEARCH
ANALYSIS: good analysis but Rocky Horror is a musical, not a true horror. I would look at a different film for your second analysis.

CODES & CONVENTIONS: good but a bit brief. More details would be better.

REPRESENTATIONS: too brief. Where are the images?

AUDIENCE RESEARCH: Make sure that you add a screen shot of your questionnaire and then the results.

    ReplyDelete
  2. TARGET AUDIENCE PROFILE: this is great

PLANNING DOCUMENT: where is this? Please screenshot and add it
